Pinay Freelancer’s Tools: Google Docs

When it comes to our jobs, we all have our each other’s tools and systems. For example, a friend of mine can’t live without his laptop because he says that it is his workstation away from home. Whenever he needed to do a quick image editing (he’s a graphic artist), all he need is a place to sit down so he can do his magic, I mean his work.

I also have a friend who always has her PDA in her purse. I think it’s a Treo, I’m not so sure as I am not that very familiar with PDA’s or smartphones. She uses her handy gadget to check her emails as she gets dozens of emails from her colleagues and from her clients. And she says that she has to read her emails fast and anywhere she might be.

As for me, I don’t really carry much gadgets, only my cellphone which is a quite low tech unit because it doesn’t even have a camera. As long as I can make a call, receive a call and send and receive text messsages, I’m fine with my phone.

Although I sometimes bring my laptop with me but only when I am sure that I am not going home in a day or two. That’s so I can continue with my blogging whenever and wherever I like.

But when I don’t have my laptop with me, that’s when I make very good use of Google Docs. This is the reason why whenever I needed to draft a blog post, letter or any copy of considerable length and importance, I make sure that I save a copy on my Google Docs account. Why? It’s for instances when I have to be somewhere else and I need that draft right away. All I need is computer connected to the internet and I can easily and quickly retrieve that document.

Why not save it on a flash disk? I do that too, but I sometimes forget or misplace my flash disk so to avoid such risk, I save my work online.
